Long term investment in islamic
Ok
Dear Mr. Heath,
Thank you for the article. As someone with over a decade of experience in the Canadian halal investment market, I can attest to the accuracy of this article. The definitions of the Islamic terms in the article are well written, and the research on the available options is thorough.
It’s worth mentioning that direct investment through almost any financial institutions (big five banks and wealhsimple’s Trade, for example) is also a channel for Muslim investors who have better knowledge in finance and Sharia-compliance.
Lastly, if I may suggest a follow up to this article. A much needed article could be an – albeit brief – overview, or a macroeconomic landscape, of the halal investment market in Canada compared to that of other countries. In other words, is the Canadian halal investment market more developed to those in the USA, UK, and Japan? Proportionally of course, with respect to number of options, their quality (e.g. 7 year performance against the country’s index), their adoption by main banks, presence of local Sharia-compliance oversight bodies that are ‘legit’ to some degree.)
Sincerely,
Majed Jarrar
