March sees lower numbers than expected.
Canadian housing starts fell unexpectedly during the month of March.
The annual rate decreased to 197,300 units from 200,400 units in February. Analysts had expected housing starts to rise between 197,000 and 205,000.
Ontario’s urban starts fell 15.5%. Despite the loss, insiders remain confident that Canadian residential construction will stay strong.
