The Globeand Mail has a brief but handy guide to ducking some of the hit of the HST. In brief:
Don’t buy coffee for your friends. Coffee purchases under $4 are HST-exempt.
Go to the U.S for services and pay with our near-parity dollars.
Read e-books. You still have to pay HST, but they’re cheaper.

Regardless, nice advice, and there must be more. We’ll be on the lookout.
