This area southwest of Ottawa is near several small lakes, for buyers dreaming of living on the water. Affordability and solid price appreciation over time snagged it the no. 2 spot.

3. Finch

This area on the way to Cornwall is less than an hour’s drive from downtown Ottawa. With an average housing price of $214,000 in 2017, it’s a relative bargain.

If you’re looking for a beach lifestyle within driving distance of Ottawa, Constance Bay might be for you. The area has a variety of recreational activities on offer, from water skiing and horseback riding in the summer to ice fishing and snowmobiling in the winter.
