It's not called Land O' Lakes for nothing. Cottagers can paddle on a different lake every day for 13 years.

Imagine being able to fish or paddle your canoe on a different lake every day for 13 years? Well, you can at Land O’ Lakes. This 4,000-sq-km area between Belleville and Kingston boasts about 5,000 sparkling glacier-formed lakes. “This area is more affordable than any other cottage area in Ontario,” says Wayne Carrothers, sales representative with Royal LePage ProAlliance Realty of Kingston. “The cottage resale market is stable this spring and there is good supply available.”
According to the Re/Max survey, average prices in this area dipped slightly in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. Most of the available waterfront properties with land access now range in price from $150,000 to $400,000, while island water access properties range from $150,000 to $200,000. Don’t mind being off the water but within walking distance of the waterfront? Then consider a property that’s set in a bit from the lake. Such cottages are a steal, going for only $65,000 to $85,000. Sought after lakes include Horseshoe, Skoot–amatta, Big Gull and Kashwakamak. “Most of the interest for cottages in this area comes from Toronto,” says Carrothers. “The good news is that there is more on the market this spring to chose from—many of them quite affordable.”
