Here are the top three neighbourhoods in Squamish and Whistler:
One of the area’s newer communities, which takes its name from the natural plateau it’s built upon, Plateau features breathtaking views of the Stawamus Chief and surrounding mountains. With forest as far as the eye can see, residents here enjoy the serene life Squamish has to offer. On any given day, you can hike, bike, rock climb and fish in any one of the rugged backyard mountains accessible to this community.
Commuters like this neighbourhood for its access to the Sea to Sky Highway (also known as Highway 99) that runs north to Whistler and south to West Vancouver.
Buyers like this community for its newer builds and modernized side- and back-split homes complete with double-car garages and generous yards. Those with larger budgets can choose from contemporary or West-Coast (or both) themes, typically on lots with stunning valley or mountain (or both) views.

Average Single-Family Home Price (2019): $1,252,500
Just about anyone who loves snow sports dreams of living or owning property in Whistler—but that dream can be an expensive proposition. Still, some neighbourhoods offer tremendous value (despite the high price tag to get in). Nesters is one of these communities.
As a residential community, Nesters is just north of the Olympic Plaza area—the main retail village that is at the base of the famous Whistler and Blackcomb skiing and mountain biking trails. The proximity to the village means residents of Nesters get a close-knit community feel, with quick and direct access to all retail and nightlife that makes Whistler a go-to destination for many.
Another advantage of being this close to the action is that buyers who want a bit of help with the mortgage will have no problem finding a long-term renter or booking short-term rentals to the tourists who flock to this B.C. destination.
On the lower-end (around $1.5-million), houses in this community consist of older, smaller A-frame cabins usually with two or three bedrooms. On the higher-end (north of $7-million), houses are massive (5,000 square feet or larger) log-cabins or chalet-style homes complete with grand views through large windows and multi-car garages.
Prior to the pandemic and market slowdown, homes typically sold within 20 days in Nesters, Whistler.
Average Single-Family Home Price (2019): $8,494,000
